    How can I remove my website URL from the Google Index?

    There could be any reason that you've searched for this article. At some points, everyone requires some things to be removed from the Google index. For instance, you deleted a page and now, you don't want it to pop up anymore. Or due to SEO reasons, you want some low-quality pages to be removed. To make it a lot easier for you to remove URLs from Google's index, here are the top three ways! Take a peek at them, implement them, and the URL will be removed. If you still are not so sure that you can do it by yourself or if you're taking a wrong step, then you'd better go for companies that provide SEO services in Pakistan, so you will not make a wrong choice!

    Method #1: Opt For Google Search Console

    It gets incredibly easy when you opt for Google Search Console for removing URLs from your website. Not only this, it is an essential tool if you wish to manage your site's performance and appearance in the search.
    Follow the steps mentioned below for removing URL from searches with the help of Google Search Console.
    • Navigate to the link for removing URLs
              https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals
    • Click on the “empty box option,” where as an example, we’ve written http://www.abcxyz.com/  and select your website
    • At last, click on the request removal button

    Doing this will remove the URL from Google's cache and from searches for about 90 days. However, once you've submitted the request then it should show it as 'pending' for removal. If at any point, you change your mind, then you can easily cancel the request at any time. All you have to do is to click on the cancel option.

    There is one thing to keep in mind when you go for this option, and it is that this method is temporary.  After 90 days of the request, if the URL is still live on your site, then it will automatically be added into the index back by Google and this, in turn, will make it pop up in the search results.
    If you want to permanently remove the URL, then below two methods 3, and 4 are down for you.
    Method #2: Usage of Noindex Meta Tag:
    It is one of the most influential and most used ways of removing URLs from Google's search results. However, it can only be attained when we stop them from getting indexed.
    In the head section of your HTML code, you can use a small code snippet. By doing this, URLs will not be shown on searches. This code informs Google and other search engines, not to show those URLs into the pages of search.
    The code looks like this;

    <meta name="robots" content="noindex" />
    You don't have to worry if something else pops up instead of “index” like “noindex, follow,” both of these will give out the same effect.
    If you have access to the HTML code of your website, then you can easily add it to your website with complete ease. Doesn't matter if you use a content management system like WordPress, SEO plugins provide incredible options to noindex specific posts and pages. Here's how that removal option looks like in the most regularly employed WordPress SEO plugin;

    By adding the tags of noindex to the web pages, the URLs will be gone from the searches, the time when it will be visited by a search engine robot. If they still, don't get disappeared from the searches, then do not worry! They sometimes take weeks or several days to disappear from the search results. If you still can't want for such days, then you can do one thing and navigate to Google’s outdated content removal tool. It will help you in removing the deleted or noindexed URL as soon as it can be removed.
    The longer the noindex tag is present, the longer the URL won't show up in the searches. This tag will not only remove the URL from Google but also from other search engines such as Yahoo and Bing.
    If you want to remove all of the pages of your website from the searches, then it is easy! All you have to do is add noindex to your entire website.
    If you want to do this, then go to the WordPress dashboard –> Settings –> Reading. Once done, then click on the box that says, “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.”
    This method is best to be used when you're working on a new website and you don't want other people to see it yet. Make sure you're not using this on a live site, else you're no far from losing all the traffic on your site.
    Method #3: Eliminate The URL!
    If you have a useless URL, that is no more useful for you, then you can do one thing, and that is DELETE IT from your site!
    By doing this, a message will pop up and that is "404 (Not Found) or 410 (Gone) error".
    And when the Googlebot will see that 404 or 410 error, it will remove the URL from the index.
    Sometimes, you want to delete a page that makes you feel that it is of no use, but in actual, it brings the most traffic to your site. So, if you're not a pro at it, then you can surely go to a company that provides SEO Services In Pakistan, and get it done from there.
